Hey, it’s Kevin from Precision Service. We’ve got a worn-out closing slide with a dovetail and backlash issues in the nut and screw—too far gone, so we’re rebuilding it. We dropped the apron, pulled the slide, and ground the top, bottom, and dovetail surfaces to zero. Next, we’re fitting the cross slide, addressing center wear, and refitting the gib with mogulize or turcite. The screw’s acme thread is shot, so we’re getting a new one quoted. The gib needs grinding and material added to save it, keeping it metal-on-metal to save time and money. Stay tuned for more. Thanks! |
