If you need service, or maintenance on any Mazak Power Master, Contact Us today.

Hey everyone, Kevin from Precision Service here. We’ve got a Power Master X-axis in front of us. We removed it from the machine due to some shimmy issues, possibly from worn parts or binding. We’ve disassembled it, provided a quote for seals and other parts, and are now inspecting everything.

The Curvic coupling looks okay, though not perfect. We’ll clean it up. The X-axis slide, which rides on the bedways, needs a flat surface for the apron to bolt onto, driving the Z-axis. We checked it with a parallel and found wear—about minus 5.5 thousandths—causing it to tilt forward, likely contributing to the shake and finish issues you noticed (around 1.5 to 1.7 thousandths).

There’s a slight twist in the slide, and some chip buildup and scratches on the bedways, but those aren’t critical since we use Mazak’s reference points for setup. We’ll flip it, do more checks, and dial in the X-axis using these points. We’re looking at 3-4 weeks for completion, including scraping to square the swindle.

We’ll keep you updated, possibly tomorrow or the next day. If you have questions, call me. These videos are to keep you informed and ensure we get this done quickly, as I know you need this machine back in action. Thanks!
