Hi, I’m Kevin with Precision Service, and today I’m showing you the Mazak Powermaster X-axis slide repair. This machine, from 2011, has about 14 years of heavy use, particularly with long tooling for boring, which caused the turrets to lean forward toward the spindle. This is a common issue due to wear over time. To fix this, we applied new turcite to the underside of the slide. Turcite is great for Powermaster machines because it reduces swing, allows smoother sliding, and is easy to replace in the future, potentially in 10 to 15 years. We’ve adjusted the slide height by about eight or nine thousandths of an inch to compensate for material removed from the X-axis ways and turret base, ensuring proper alignment with the centerline. Next, we’ll shim the ball screw bracket to prevent any binding and maintain centerline alignment. The slide is squared up and nearly ready for delivery. Despite a slight delay due to weather, we plan to deliver it to the customer tomorrow morning, Thursday. Once there, we’ll fit the gibs and aim to complete the job by Friday. The machine will then be reassembled, and the project will be finished. We’ll ensure the slide stays dry during transport. Stay tuned for another update soon. Thanks for watching! |
