Hi, I’m Kevin with Precision Service, working on an NLX 2500 slide. This slide was heavily used in a robotic setup, causing wear in one area. My team already ground the flat surface, which now looks great, but we didn’t touch the master way yet. We cleaned up the flat, removing about eight thousandths to get a good bearing surface, and set it up on parallels for quick grinding. The wear wasn’t too bad—about four thousandths over the whole length—but we’ve seen worse. Next, we’ll grind the master way (likely on the sides) and remove the turret. We may add shims or adjust the turret to realign it to centerline. We’re waiting to hear if the turret will be rebuilt or replaced with a new one. We noticed the turcite (a low-friction material) is peeling off because it lacks enough stitching for the glue to hold. We’ll scrape the surface, apply thicker turcite where needed, and ensure proper lubrication by cleaning or replacing the lines. I’ll share more videos soon, including the grinding of the gib and master way, plus the turcite application. Thanks for watching! |
