Hi, I’m Kevin with Precision Service, working on a DMG Mori NLX 2500 slide (I think!). Yesterday, we ground the slide flat on our way grinder, including the master and gib surfaces. Since we removed eight thousandths from the top, we decided to add 32 thousandths of turcite to the bottom for proper thickness.

We set the slide on blocks and ground the bottom, taking off about 20 thousandths to leave five thousandths for scraping. Turcite is easier to scrape than metal, so we’ll fine-tune it. We’ll also add 35 thousandths of turcite to the master, glue it, and feather it out for a smooth fit.

We’re waiting on a new ball screw to ensure everything aligns correctly, so the job’s on hold for a couple of days. In the meantime, we’re cleaning the slide, checking lubrication lines, and replacing old gib material. Once the ball screw arrives, we’ll align everything, use an indicator to verify, and share a video of the process.

Stay tuned, and thanks for watching!
