We’re in the process of building your machine, but we haven’t started the alignment checks yet. I want to make sure all the heavy parts, such as the motor, are installed first. If I check alignment before these are in place, things might move later. I spoke with Henry, who has a lot of experience, and he agrees it’s best to bolt everything down before checking the axes.

One thing I overlooked was a bracket that covers the top section of the ways. I originally thought it was just a way wiper, but it’s actually a protective cover. I missed it in the manual because it’s labeled as a “cover,” not a wiper. That’s on me. The original one is damaged—mangled from chip buildup—so we reached out to the OEM. They’re checking with Japan for pricing, but if it’s too expensive or delayed, I’ll make a new one myself.

Everything heavy will be mounted before we start checking accuracy. Your chucks arrived safely with no shipping issues. I’ll probably install them later—first, I want to get the test bars in and begin the alignment.

We’re close to finishing, just not quite there yet. I also wanted to save time by assembling the machine inside the frame instead of building it outside, taking it apart, and rebuilding it.

I’ll send another video early next week once we start the alignment checks with indicators. Hopefully, I’ll have an answer soon on the cover from Japan, but if not, I’ll move forward with fabricating it.

Feel free to reach out with any questions. Thanks again, and I’ll keep you posted.
