Hey everyone! I’m back with an update on the Nakato Nakamura Tome WT300. This slide’s all ground down now—check it out up close. I’ve put oil on it to prevent rust, especially with the humid weather lately. We’ve been grinding a lot over the past week, though my vacation slowed things down a bit. This lower access slide had a lot of damage, so we machined it and plan to use oversized turcite since it was so worn. The gib hasn’t been touched yet—this problem side caused most of the machine tool issues, though there were other problems too. We’ve started scraping and fitting the turcite, using Dykem Blue to ensure a perfect fit. The gibs aren’t glued yet; we’re focusing on the flats and master first. Progress is steady—another side shows the Dykem Blue better.Parts like ball screws and bearings should arrive in two weeks. I hope to finish the bed by Thursday or Friday and set it up outside using test bars for easier fitting. The upper turret was machined on its face and ground, which was tricky due to setup challenges over the 4th of July weekend, but it’s accurate now. New turcite will replace the old.The machine’s been cleaned amazingly by Jose, making wiring easier, though the electrical cabinet still needs detailing. We’re replacing the lubrication black. We’re on schedule, fitting slides one at a time, and plan to test everything outside. Expect another update Thursday or Friday—thanks for watching, and call me anytime!
