Hi, I’m Kevin with Precision Service, working on the Okuma LB3000 X-axis slide. This machine suffered a major crash, causing significant damage to one side. We checked the flats, and they’re perfectly zero, so no concerns there. On the damaged side, where most of the impact occurred, I zeroed it out and found it’s only about four-tenths off, which is minor. After discussing with the team, we may just grind the binderways to correct this, leaving the rest of the slide untouched since it’s aligned across the board.

We’ll need new gib straps and gibs for this machine. I also checked the other side of the X-axis, and all the ways there measured zero, so no additional work is needed. However, I noticed some deep scoring on this side, which we need to address to prevent it from worsening. Using a small indicator, the scoring showed a deviation of about four or five thousandths. I’m using a slightly larger indicator ball now, so I’ll record another video to show that in detail. Stay tuned for the next update. Thanks for watching!
