Hey there! Kevin from Precision Service here with a quick update on your compound slide repair. We’ve made great progress, and I’m excited to share where we’re at.

We’ve finished applying the Turcite, a durable material, to the top of the slide. This is the “V” section of your compound slide, and it’s now securely glued in place. To keep everything aligned with the machine’s centerline, we removed material from both the top and bottom of the slide. Initially, the Turcite was about 20-thousandths of an inch thicker than planned due to material costs, but we adjusted to ensure a perfect fit.

We noticed a previous repair on the machine that wasn’t quite right—an indentation was too deep. We fixed this by making it flush with the mating surface, which we believe is the proper approach. We also added a larger piece of phenolic material (a strong, durable plastic) to one side to correct the alignment, matching how it should’ve been from the factory. The bottom section had a stepped design, which we’ve smoothed out and refitted for accuracy.

Right now, we’re working on refitting the gibs (adjustable components that ensure smooth movement) to make sure everything is perfectly aligned. We’re also waiting on the screw and nut parts, which I hope to receive this week, despite the holiday on Monday. Once those arrive, we’ll likely need to make new bushings and adjust the nut to fit the housing properly, either by trimming it or adding shims for a snug fit.

We’re moving along smoothly, just waiting on those final parts to wrap things up. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out! Thanks for your patience, and I’ll keep you posted.
